Hello
Hi. I’m Jamie and I am the owner of Sweet Gratitude Bakehouse, a licensed, home-based bakery located in Centreville, Virginia. Bespoke cakes, macarons and floral delights, such as cookies and brownies, are my specialty. I grow edible flowers, hydroponically, year round and offer them for fresh and dried/pressed designs.
I'm an Army Vet and am proud to have served.
My Story
Baking began as an outlet for me while caring for my son Liam, who has Nemaline Myopathy, a rare muscular dystrophy that affects all aspects of his daily life. I started out making pizza and bread. The process of using my hands, learning about different creative baking and decorative methods nourished my mind, body and soul. Baking for others became a way for me to thank the amazing and supportive community that came together to support Liam and me through the years and still does. I loved seeing how much everyone enjoyed my baked goods and how I could express my gratitude for their love.
When I decided to sign up for a Make-A-Wish fundraiser, consisting of a 26.6 mile hike, I had to raise $3000 to participate. To thank my donors, I gifted them with cookies, brownies and bread. In addition, I set up a donation table at a local event with my homemade baked goods. After raising over $10,000 for Make-A-Wish and completing the 26.6 mile one day hike, I started to receive requests on how to purchase my baked goods. From there, Sweet Gratitude Bakehouse came to life.
Giving back to people and organizations will always be at the core of my mission. I regularly donate to hospice care, fundraisers for the wide disability community, and for the medically fragile and disabled children in my smaller circle.
